The New Taipei Museum of Arts initiated an educational program collaborating with 40 public schools and 15 visual artists from different fields. The goal is to bring together different aspects of "art," offering students a rather diverse understanding toward contemporary art. The educational program I designed and facilitated with high school art teacher Ying-Ju Wang -- "Collaging a Tactile Landscape," focused on the sculpture and spatial practice sides of art education. I invited students to observe different surfaces and textures in campus, and furthermore, collect the surface through site-specific plaster casting. Later in the program, students had the freedom to select textures from different plaster molds and collage them. Knowledge and skills from other disciplines such as science, chemistry, physics, architecture, are drawn into the program as a tool and aid to help students achieve their final result in art.

Collaborating with New Taipei Museum of Arts, which is still under construction, the artist designed a half day workshop to go along with a museum construction site tour. Students were guided and invited to dream as big as they can, imagining a possible/impossible museum in their daily life.

High School Art Mentoring and Educational Program, VCA and Uni Melb

Melbourne, Australia, 2017

High school Art Mentoring and Education Program was a new program established by the Master of Teaching Course (University of Melbourne) and Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). The program aimed to promote visual art education in suburban high schools in Victoria region. Artists and students of Master of Teaching were sent to different high schools to conduct a two week long residency at the school throughout 2017.

I was assigned to work with a group of Year 10 students at Point Cook Senior Secondary College. Through the residency period, I designed and facilitated three workshops, including Rings of Emotions, Imagining Containers, and Onggi Master, introducing students to several approaches of conceptual thinking and sculptural and spatial practice in ceramic medium.

Artist Workshop: Mapping Point Cook

Mapping Point Cook is a public workshop I designed and facilitated during my Artist in Residency at Wyndham City Saltwater Community Centre. I invited participants to share their stories of moving to and living in Point Cook, and figure out their daily routine and movement in the area through a map. Following a rich conversation, participants then were asked to draw from their memory a map of their local community on a ceramic slap. Continuing the concept of "Metaphorical Landscape", the idea of this project is to bring out one's memories and wishes to a land through the mapping process. The final presentation of this workshop will become an assembling map that installed outside of the Saltwater Center as a public art.
